Weaved Bacon For Your Sandwich
Weaved bacon is the easiest recipe you will every use because who cares if it turns out. Don’t freight if it doesn’t result in Pinterest perfect because at the end of the day it is bacon! Seriously, the concept of weaved bacon came from the hopes to find a better bacon delivery system. Even if it is a disaster, you still have yummy bacon.
Weaved bacon can take any sandwich to the next level. As always, I am here to make your cooking ventures easy. I suggest a Chicken Club Sandwich with Homemade Honey Mustard and Parmesan Crisp.
My attempt was not a total disaster, but I did learn some best practices to share:
- Buy lean bacon. It allows for easier weaving.
- Bake your bacon in the oven at 400 degrees.
- Line your cookie sheet with alumni foil for easy clean up.
- Take a deep breath, if it gets messed up, you still have bacon to eat.
Weaved Bacon Ingredient
- one pound lean bacon
Recipe for Weaved Bacon
- Set oven to 400 degrees, and cut strips of bacon in half (so now you have, 6 half-strips.)
- Take your 6 half-strips of bacon, and weave them together on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. The weaving the bacon gives them strength and allows them to cook together to form a cohesive bacon square.
- Place a second cookie sheet on top of your lined sheet with bacon. This will make sure they cook flat.
- Place in the oven and cook for approximately 20-25 minutes or until desired doneness (I cooked mine to be crispy)
- After finding your desired doneness, remove bacon and delicately transfer to paper towel to absorb extra grease.
- Let the cookie sheets cool, crinkle up alumni foil and throw away your bacon mess!
For those like me who are looking to lose a little weight this year, you can do this with turkey bacon as well. Clearly, it is not as delicious as true bacon but is much healthier and easier to weave. You will adjust your cooking time as it is already pre-cooked. The turkey bacon can be cooked in the microwave or the oven. That depends on your personal preference. The turkey bacon is a fine substitute for real bacon is only for cheating weekends at the Wester house. 🙂
