My new found love of cooking stems from my true love…eating. Growing up, I never had to partake in the cooking part of my love affair. I simply set the table and enjoyed the masterpiece that was dinner. From smoked pork shoulders to homemade fudge, there is always something good coming from the kitchen.

Corn Bread

Who doesn’t love fluffy, buttery corn bread to accompany chili? The two pair perfectly together.

You know that I love easy meal planning so here are two Chili recipes to pair with your corn bread. The first is a Crock Pot Taco Chili, which is a spicy version of an old classic. The second is 5-Ingredients Easy Chili Recipe, which is the simplest way to make delicious Chili.

Corn Bread Ingredients

  • Cooking spray to grease pan
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (1/2 stick)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups yellow, white or blue cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

5-ingredient Easy Chili

Trying to get back into the swing of things can be hard especially after the long weekend. An easy, hearty recipes like 5-ingredient Easy Chili is exactly what you need.

My plan for tonight is to turn on Netflix, act like it is Sunday and cook 5-ingredient easy chili. It takes about 25 minutes and to make a full flavor chili without all the work. The rest of the evening will be spent on my new Netflix original, Making A Murderer.

If you are like me, you can’t just have classic chili for dinner. It needs to be paired with cornbread and to fulfill my 2016 eating healthy goal, a veggie.

5-Ingredient Easy Chili:

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey*
  • 3 (15 oz.) cans diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans beans, drained (black beans, kidney beans, a combo, or whatever you like)
  • 1 small white onion, diced
  • 2 Tbsp. Chili powder
  • (optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, cilantro, etc.)

I don’t know about you, but I love a warm hearty meal during a Midwest Winter. Crock-Pot Taco Chili is a scrumptious option for dinner tonight.

There is nothing better than curling up on the couch and letting the aroma fill your home. For me, this means cooking Chili based on my mood- white chili, easy chili, and taco chili.
