New Job
There is no passion to be found in playing small—in settling for a life that is less than you are capable of living.- Nelson Mandela
I am taking a big leap of faith and no longer playing it small. Next Monday, the next chapter of my BJC Career book will begin as the newest project manager for the Patient Experience Team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. I am following my passion and will start living the life that I am capable of! It might even be a stretch goal. 🙂
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. -Steve Jobs
My passion and love have always been with the work that this team does. On my first day at Barnes-Jewish, five years ago, I knew it was something special. They care for the patients in a unique way. While the one-on-one interaction is important, the larger scale and influence to move the needle forward for all who walk through the hospital doors from patients to visitors to employees will change our culture and lives. I will get to be part of this team focusing on how to make what could be the worse day of your life, a little better. What a blessing and the closest I will ever get to doing God’s work by taken care of the least of His people.
Certain things catch your eye, but pursue only those that capture the heart.- Ancient Indian Proverb
My heart has been in this space for five years. Last time, I worked with them, I was inspired to grow and help others grow. At the time, I had the unique privilege of transporting guests to whimsical places to learn how to better care for our team members and patients.
While I might not be transporting people this time, I was indeed transported to my best self after being inspired by this body of work. I earned my masters in communication and leadership because I found such value in how we communicate to others and how it can change their perception of care they received. Yep, I am nerdy.
If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat! Just get on.- Sheryl Sandberg
When the opportunity came along, I couldn’t have passed it up. I had given it up to God, and he gave me the opportunity to follow my passion and heart.
While it might be a bit scary to be out of my comfort zone, I am over the moon to jump on the rocket ship, love my work and make a difference.
