For those of you have been following Scrumptious Style for a while, you have noticed we have a variety of plates that photograph on. When we first started, we purchased square white plates. The hope was to mimic the big brands, simplify the background so you could really smell, taste and want the food through an image.
Well, that concept worked for an entire week before I boycotted the idea. Given the choice between cleaning my special blog plates or opening a bottle of wine, turning on Netflix and throwing words on paper… I go with the latter.
To make it even more confusing, my every day Kate Spade plates come in two varieties.
- The grown up classic white plates with fun texture
- The funky bold pattern because I am never growing up
Regardless of the style, I love my Kate Spade plates. I don’t splurge on much, but these were a great decision. The quality is wonderful. Also, if you are lucky you catch them on sale like the ones below! I love my classic white and my pop of color equally. I am just grateful I am not using my hodgepodge of plates that were adopted from college roommates, older brothers and great-aunts. You have seen these on occasion too as I hate to do dishes. 🙂 Read more
Tea Party
Let me start by apologizing for the delay in sharing my lovely Tea party. Like everyone, life got a little busy with welcoming a new niece, pool parties and enjoying our stunning weather until lately. So here we are…Throwback Thursday. The only salvageable and decent way to share my party without being so outdated.
Now that I have begged for your forgiveness let’s chat about my adult tea party! In December, I inherited some vintage hats from my Grandma DiSalvo. They just had to be saved from the trash as they were a work of art. Then a few months later, I found Grandma Wester’s hat collection as my in-laws’ house, and I knew it was fate. I was rolling in 27 in the most fashionable way with an adult tea party! Read more
Tuscany | Behind The Blog
The Story Behind The Photo
This beautiful view is a reminder for me to stay positive and look for the beauty in every situation.
While headed up this gravel road to a winery in Tuscany, the van we were riding in began to struggle. Soon the van lost traction and stalled. Unable to get moving again, our driver tried rolling backward down the hill to a less steep portion of the hill. We all exited the van to make it lighter and after a small collision with a pole and a few minutes of pushing, we had the van moving up the hill again. The van made it to the top of the hill and we began hiking up after it. Read more

Nicki’s Birthday | Behind The Blog
The Story Behind The Photo
This photo was taken at Klondike Park in St. Charles County on Nicki’s birthday. Nicki likes to take her birthday off of work, and always seems to convince me to do the same. This year, Nicki, our friend Jaclyn and myself headed out to Augusta, Missouri for an afternoon at the wineries. We spent our afternoon sitting in the sun and sipping wine on the patio at Montelle Winery. To be honest, perhaps a little too much wine for Nicki and way too much sun for Jaclyn and myself.
After the winery, we stopped by Klondike Park for one of the most scenic views in the St. Louis area. The overlook can be accessed by hiking up the paved pathway near the Curt Loupe Conference Center. The entire park is beautiful, but this area provides amazing backdrops for photos – including this one. Read more
Outfits For Your Father’s Day Outing
Before I tell you all about Outfits For Your Father’s Day Outing, I need to gush a bit about my Dad. The relationship my Dad and I have is not the typical situation as it started in the most unusual way. Here is the short version.
I was born in the backseat of the family car on the way to the hospital. Maybe one day I will include all the details in a post, but for now, you just need the facts. This means the first person to ever touch and hold me was my Dad. This is a bit unusual as most mothers-to-be have a doctor, nurses and a sterile room to give birth. Well, not these two… no wonder I am the youngest. 🙂
From there it has always been the two peas in a pod. My Dad is always first phone call for big life news or crises to get advice on how to handle it. He is my best friend and my biggest fan. I even have picked up his bad habits such as needing someone to go grocery shopping with! Everything is better with a friend. 🙂 On Father’s Day, it will be all about this guy and show him some much-needed love. If you are still in need of a Father’s day plan and outfit, check out our three fabulous outfits for your Father’s Day Outing. You have plenty of time to do any of these!
Love the looks, schedule your first Stitch Fix box today. It is ok to buy yourself gifts even if this weekend is all about Dad! Read more

Opera Theatre of St. Louis
Last week, Brad and I had a fantastic date night courtesy of Opera Theatre of St. Louis. We called this date night new age adulting because we were selected for the free tweet seats! The night was magical and even started with a charming picnic.
As this was my first time at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, I was not sure what would be in store for us. What type of people attend the opera? What do they wear? Are Brad and I even adult enough to enjoy the opera?
When I am nervous on fitting in, I always go with my favorite LBD, comfy pair of shoes and a statement piece. When we arrived, I was shocked. There was a variety of ages and attire all looking to have a fun night out. Brad and I fit right in. My nerves and notions of an opera faded away, and I was looking forward to learning what attending the Opera Theatre of St. Louis was all about. Read more
