5-ingredient Easy Chili
Trying to get back into the swing of things can be hard especially after the long weekend. An easy, hearty recipes like 5-ingredient Easy Chili is exactly what you need.
My plan for tonight is to turn on Netflix, act like it is Sunday and cook 5-ingredient easy chili. It takes about 25 minutes and to make a full flavor chili without all the work. The rest of the evening will be spent on my new Netflix original, Making A Murderer.
If you are like me, you can’t just have classic chili for dinner. It needs to be paired with cornbread and to fulfill my 2016 eating healthy goal, a veggie.
5-Ingredient Easy Chili:
- 1 lb. ground beef or turkey*
- 3 (15 oz.) cans diced tomatoes with green chiles
- 2 (15 oz.) cans beans, drained (black beans, kidney beans, a combo, or whatever you like)
- 1 small white onion, diced
- 2 Tbsp. Chili powder
- (optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, cilantro, etc.)
Directions for 5-Ingredient Easy Chili
- In a large stockpot, cook ground beef or turkey over medium-high heat until browned, stirring frequently.
- Drain the excess grease.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the onion is cooked and softened.
- Serve warm with additional toppings if desired.
Already have dinner plans for tonight, plan to have 5-Ingredient Easy Chili for tomorrow. You can make this in the slow cooker to have it ready when you come home. All you need to do is brown your meat on the stove before adding it and the other ingredients to your slow cooker. Then slow cook the chili on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
Thanks to Gimme Some Oven for the inspiration on this post.
